Only a few surgeons in South Carolina are double board certified. Dr. Sonny O happens to belong to that elite group. His certification by the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Plastic Surgery was made possible through intense training. He graduated from the Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami in Florida. He spent the next decade sharpening his skills as an Assistant Professor at both the University of Florida in Gainesville and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. As a faculty member, he was deeply involved in research and teaching our future plastic surgeons. Through his research in breast reconstruction, he was awarded a grant from the America Cancer Society.
